Chornia VI, the sixth planet in the Chornia system, was once a world teeming with both daytime wildlife and an array of nocturnal creatures. Now the world, far from its system’s dying sun, lacks nearly all sunlight, leaving the planet one of nocturnal activity, both sentient and otherwise.

Most notable of the non-sentient species on the world are Chornian wasps, a large variant of the insect, approximately the size of a grown man’s head, and the rayzur, a six-legged feline predator known for a sonarlike sense.

The native sentients of the world, Chornians, are reptilian beings, found only in small numbers on the human-colonized planet. They are known for their flowing capes, bearing patterns visible under ultraviolet lighting that denote their social status, along with their use of the flowering “puff-balls” of the southern Chornian jungle, which emit a natural light and are often held, one in each hand, during jungle excursions.

A few years before the Battle of Yavin, Imperial sabotage brought down the primary power grid for Chornia VI’s capital city. The resulting darkness was so complete that the Imperials themselves had a hard time completing their assault on a local Rebel cell, leading to the common phrase among Rebels, “darker than a Chornian night.”

In an ironic twist on the planet’s lightdeprived environment, the primary export of Chornia VI, albeit to restricted governmental buyers, is weapons-grade chornium, a substance utilized in a form of fusion bomb, which is generally accompanied by a flash considered as bright as a star.
